The age-old question… can it run Doom? Whilst everything including Microwaves and Calculators run ID’s most iconic title, I’ve never had an Amiga capable of wielding the BFG.
Whilst the video below of Doom (well ADoom) running on our Amibian 1.5ee Amiga 500 might not be technically real Amiga hardware, it’s the closest I’d ever get without selling a kidney for an accelerator card for my 1200.
The buttery framerate is quite expected with Sysinfo scores upwards of 450mips, an impressive feat – measuring a whopping 654 times faster than my beloved Amiga 1200. All that power makes the Amiga experience a bloody joy. No need for PCMCIA network cards, TCP stacks, or additional Ram for CF cards. It. Just. Works.
The purist may bite their thumb at this abomination but it’s an accessible and affordable way to open up the Amiga platform for this generation and generations to come.
